2. Describe their influences. /5
As McCurry is known for showing the face of war rather it's effect on the surrounding land, people influence his works. A high point in 's career was the rediscovery of the previously unidentified Afghan refugee girl that many have described as the most recognizable photograph in the world today. His style is caures the raw instances in human lives, when people are being themselves. McCurry says likes to wait with his subjects and joke with them to lighten the mood. He says that eventually they forget the camera is even there and their true essences shine through. McCurry favorite place to go abroad for his photography is Asia, though he does find the western United States, in particular the Grand Canyon area, “one of the most spectacular places in the world.” He spends the majority of his time traveling and plans to do so for the rest of his life. McCurry has published a number of his collections in the form of books.
3. Describe their style and major genre (Documentary, Fashion etc.) /5
McCurry's best works are portraits specifically capturing the likeness of people in a raw state. Which is why he is often in war zones or "ground zero"
I can't say which design element this is because i don't know but, the cool green background matches her eyes. Other than that it's single point. This image made national geographic photography inconic and certitable. The light is coming from above for a supernatural effect.
The depth in this photo would go unnoticed if the hero looking person weren't in the top left corner of the photo following the rule of thirds. This photograph is a example of McCurry's presence in disaster zones. The light is streaming throught the windows to bring light to the dust and debree. Also it makes a disagonial across the picture. I would even count this photo for blance because of the symeretry of the stairs and escalator down the middle.
This clearly shows McCurry experimenting with creating portraits. This is a "group portrait" but, you can't see anyones faces. I like how theres canos like a tronateo but, calm too because there all huddled. There are some triangles in the photo and three different layers. The light is soft and comes from the far back of the photo that's why it's calm.
I mentioned before McCurry captures people in a raw state but, I related that to war and diaster. This photo is people in prayer intransted in a sensitive moment with a holy rock. The shock of this photo is contrast, yellow and blue are opposites on the color wheel. The light i assume in from a volcaneo illuminates the rock durring dusk.4. Upload a minumum of 5 Photos that represent their work. /2
There is diagonals and contrast. This is a representation of how McCurry understands war and despair. The light is explosive but, flat.
